3. Southwestern On Top: Boys teams from the Inland Empire have won the last three team titles, and two of those were by Vista Murrieta of the Southwestern League. That league again could produce the boys champion with both Great Oak and Murrieta Mesa atop the favorites list heading to Clovis. Great Oak has Jaime Navarro and Harrison Gould in both throws, CJ Stevenson - the defending triple jump champion - in both horizontal jumps, the No. 2-ranked 4x100 relay team, Carlos Carvajal in the 3200, and pole vaulter Ernesto Collazo, who has a best of 15-3 from Arcadia. Murrieta Mesa is a small but fast group, with Christian Shakir-Ricks the CA leader in the 200m and #3 in the 100m, Matthew Okonkwo ranked CA #5 in the 400m, but has dropped the 200m, and two top-four ranked relay teams achored by Shakir-Ricks.
