Rylee Blade, a sophomore at Corona Santiago (SS) won the elite Sundown Showdown race on a hot Saturday night at the Pomona Fairplex.
Blade made up one position spot over the final split to win the 3-mile race in 17:13.5, holding off La Canada (SS) sophomore Maya DeBrouwer, who made a strong late charge but fell just short, making up eight position spots over the final split to cross in 17:14.8. Shadow Hills (SS) senior Marjourie Lopez placed third in 17:17.9.
