MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan University Director of Athletics Dave Heeke has announced the hiring of Mark Guthrie as the Chippewas’ director of track & field/cross country.
University of Michigan director of athletics Dave Brandon announced Monday (July 15) the hiring of Jerry Clayton as the men's track and field coach. A Big Ten alum and Midwest native, Clayton takes over the Wolverine program after spending the past 15 seasons at Auburn University.
In the 15th year of the Free Press Person of the Year award, Haley and Hannah Meier are only the third and fourth athletes to receive the honor, following Rockford track and cross-country star Dathan Ritzenhein in 2001 and St. Johns wrestling sensation Taylor Massa last year.
Michigan went down to North Carolina and put on a heck-of-a-show. The state captured two National Championships with a sweep of the 4x1 Mile, followed by many All-American finishes and top 6 finishes in the Emerging Elite and Freshman divisions.
