Bryan Fernandez Will Become a Duck in The Fall

The recruiting process ended Wednesday for Dos Pueblo senior Bryan Fernanadez as he made his decision to attend the University of Oregon in the fall.  The California Gatorade Player of the Year had narrowed his choice to three before deciding on Oregon.  After visiting UCLA and Arizona State University, Oregon came out on top.

"I really liked all of these schools, and the coaches there, but it really came down to feeling that Oregon is the best fit/opportunity for me both athletically and academically," said Fernandez on Wednesday. " Oregon has also been my dream school for running."

Fernandez has had a very successful final prep season in California.  He started the season with first place finishes at the Seaside Invitational, the Woodbridge Cross Country Classic, the Asics Clovis Inivitational and the Mt. Sac Invitational finishing with a 14:34 time for the fastest time of the day.  Heading into the championship season, Fernandez took home wins at the CIF Southern Section Prelims and Finals.  He then headed to the California State Meet winning the Divsion 2 Section in 15:09.

With his college decision behind him, Fernandez can concentrate on his upcomming final track season.
