Brandon Price Headed To Harvard

St. Margaret's senior Brandon Price has had a great high school career including being a part of two state championship teams. He boasts personal bests of 4:16.72 (1600 meters), 9:13.99 (3200 meters), and 15:47.00 (5000 meters). Not only is Price a standout athletically, but he is getting the job done academically as well. Recently, he picked Harvard over offers from several other Ivy League schools.

What has the recruiting process been like for you?

It's been pretty laid back, but I'm still glad it's over because it put a lot of pressure on me.

What schools did you take visits to?

I took visits to Yale, Harvard, and MIT.

Why did you ultimately choose Harvard?

I enjoyed the campus, the students, and the coaching staff/team. The team was motivated to work hard which I found as a big plus.

Talk about your bond with the coaching staff and other runners. How do you feel you fit in?

I have a previous teammate from my high school on the team, Billy Gaudreau, so I knew someone before I even visited. The team is pretty easy-going socially so I think I fit in very well. The coaches and myself are very motivated to do well.

How would you describe yourself as a runner?

I'm very laid back, but I get pretty serious when it comes to championship races.  I'm going to do my best to help the team perform when it counts.

What are you looking forward to most about running for the Crimson?

I'm really looking forward to just training with the team everyday. While competing is a lot of fun and very exciting, a lot of my enjoyment for the sport just comes from the process of training.

How much of a relief was it to get it out of the way so you could focus on your senior season?

It was a relief but unfortunately one of my visits got me sick for three weeks and I wasn't able to recover 100 percent for the rest of the season. Now that I've got my college decision all decided, I am excited to focus more on my upcoming track season.

What are some of your greatest memories from high school?

My greatest memories are winning the state championship twice as a team.

It's your senior year what are your goals for this year and beyond?

I just want to end my senior year with a good track season, and help my team win another consecutive league title.
