POLL Girls Track and Field Performer of the Week

Congratulations to Jada Faison of Rosary (SS), last week's top vote-getter for MileSplit Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Week.


Jada, a freshman, won three events at the Trinity League finals at JSerra HS. She swept the hurdles, running an all-conditions PR of 14.58 (2.5) in the 100mH, and 44.80 in the 300mH. She also won the long jump with the second-best jump of season, 18-7.75 (nwi). 

Jada received 47 percent of the vote in a statewide pole. Hannah Rutherford, a sophomore at Mountain View (CC), was second with 45 percent of the vote.

Congratulations to all athletes whose performances warrant consideration in this weekly poll. And thanks to everyone who voted to support these amazing athletes.

This week, we have more outstanding performances from CIF prelims in the Southern Section as well as a sampling from league finals statewide.

Tamara Aimufia (United Christian Academy/SS) - Tamara, a senior, swept the horizontal jumps at the Southern Section Division 4 Prelims at Carpinteria HS, winning the long jump with a PR of 19-3.50 (0.0) and the triple jump with a PR of 38-10.50.

Rylee Blade (Santiago-Corona/SS) - Rylee, a sophomore, had the top qualifying times in the long distances at the Southern Section Division 1 Prelims at Trabuco Hills HS in Mission Viejo, running 4:52.87 for 1600 meters and 10:38.29 for 3200 meters. 

Niya Clayton (Oaks Christian/SS) - Niya, a junior, advanced in three individual events and a relay at the Southern Section Division 4 Prelims at Carpinteria HS. Clayton ran a PR of 14.54 (1.7) in the 100m hurdles, had the No. 2 qualifying times in the 100m (11.83/1.9), 200m (24.71 (1.4), and a season-best 14.54 (1.7) in the 100m hurdles. She also anchored the 4x100m relay team (47.82) .

Iliana Downing (La Costa Canyon/SD) - Iliana, a junior, cleared 14-0 at the North Coast Conference/Coastal League Finals at Torrey Pines HS. Downing is the active state leader in the pole vault (U.S. No. 6) and just the eighth girl in California high school history to clear 14 feet. 

Meagan Humphries (Castaic/SS) - Meagan, a junior, advanced in four individual events at the Southern Section Division 3 Prelims at Yorba Linda HS. She had top qualifying marks in the long jump (19-9.50/nwi), triple jump (40-3/nwi), and high jump (5-0), and the second-fastest time in the 200m (24.38/0.9).  

Jordan Leveque (Buchanan/CS) - Jordan, a senior, won three individual events and was part of a winning relay at the Tri-River Athletic Conference Finals at Buchanan HS. Leveque, won the 100 (12.21/1.0), 200m (25.38/0.1), pole vault (12-0), and ran a leg on the winning 4x100m relay (48.33).
