POLL Girls Track and Field Performer of the Week

Congratulations to Anisa Bowen-Fontenot of San Diego HS (SD), last week's top vote-getter for MileSplit Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Week.


Anisa, a sophomore, ran the second-fastest all-conditions 100m hurdles time of the season with a 14.01 (3.0) to win at the Dick Wilkins Frosh-Soph Championships at Del Norte HS in SD. Her time ranks U.S. No. 6 in the class. She also ran a 12.38 PR to win the 100m and placed second in the 300m hurdles (44.35).

Anisa received 41 percent of the vote in a statewide pole. Kaylin Edwards, a sophomore at Wilon-Long Beach (SS), was second with 25 percent of the vote, Y'Vette Harris, a senior at Lincoln-Stockton (SJ) received 15 percent, and Ellie McCuskey-Hay, a freshman at St. Ignatius (CC) received 13 percent.

Congratulations to all athletes whose performances warrant consideration in this weekly poll. And thanks to everyone who voted to support these amazing athletes.

Rylee Blade (Santiago-Corona/SS) - Rylee, a sophomore, swept the distances at the Big VIII League Finals, winning the 800m in 2:15.23, the  1600m in 4:54.16, and the 3200m in 10:53.78. Earlier in the week she dropped her 800m PR of 2:14.16 at league prelims.

Niya Clayton (Oaks Christian/SS) - Niya, a junior won the 100m dash (11.69/0.9), the 200m dash (24.54/1.5), and 100m hurdles (14.87/1.1) at the Marmonte League Finals at Westlake HS. Her 100m time is a PR and ranks CA No. 3

Jada Faison (Rosary/SS) - Jada, a freshman, won three events at the Trinity League finals at JSerra. She swept the hurdles, running an all-conditions PR of 14.58 (2.5) in the 100mH, and 44.80 in the 300mH. She also won the long jump with the second-best jump of the season, 18-7.75 (nwi).

Mia Holden (South Pasadena/SS) - Mia, a junior, won four events at the Rio Hondo League Finals at South Pasadena HS. She won the 100m in 12.17 (0.7), the 100m hurdles in 15.28 (0.2), the 300m hurdles in 44.59, and the triple jump with a best mark of 38-10. Her marks in the 100m dash and triple jump are personal records and it is her second consecutive league title in the triple jump.

Grace Hutchison (Buchanan/CS) - Grace, a senior, swept the 1600m and 800m at the Reedley Invitational, running 2:14.43 for two laps and 4:50.09 for four. It was her fourth sub-4:51 for 1600m this season and her third fastest 800m.

Aujane Luckey (Wilson-Long Beach/SS) - Luckey, a senior, won the 200m in 24.54 (1.8) and the 400m (54.96), and helped the winning 4x400m relay team 3:50.55 at the Moore League Finals at Wilson HS. Both sprint times are season bests.

Kailah McKenzie (Orange Vista/SS) - Kailah, a senior, won three events at the Sunbelt/Inland League Finals at Heritage HS. She repeated as league champion in both the 100m hurdles (14.35/3.3) and the high jump (5-4), and also won the long jump with an all-conditions CA-leading PR of 20-8 (nwi). 

Hannah Rutherford (Mountain View/CC) - Hannah, a sophomore, swept the sprints at the SCVAL Finals at Wilcox HS. She won the 100m in 12.28 (1.3), the 200m in 24.71 (2.6), and the 400m in 57.65. She is a repeat champion in both the 200m and 400m.
