POLL Boys Track and Field Performer of the Week



Congratulations to Carter Spradling of Clovis East (CS) last week's top vote-getter for MileSplit Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Week.


Carter, a junior, ran 4:08.97 to win the 1-mile race on Friday night at the Mt. SAC Relays, and his 1600-meter en route split of 4:07.64 rans CA No. 2. His 1600m time ranks U.S. No. 1 in the junior class and his mile time ranks U.S. no. 2 in the class.

Carter received 53 percent of the vote in a statewide poll. Nickolas Miller, a senior at Clovis North (CS) was second in the voting at 26 percent, and St. Mary's (SJ) junior Legend Moore was third with 13 percent.

Congratulations to all athletes whose performances warrant consideration in this weekly poll. And thanks to everyone who voted to support these amazing athletes.

Lucas Cohen (Albany/NC) - Lucas, a junior, won the 1600 meters at the Sacramento Meet of Champions with a time of 4:09.97 in a race that produced the five fastest 1600m results of the week.

Manuel Correia (Point Loma/SD) - Manuel, a senior, moved to CA No. 6 with his 1:51.44 clocking to win the 800 meter race at the Escondido Invitational. That's a 2.33-second PR and moves him to U.S. No. 16.

Chase Farrell (Oaks Christian/SS) - Chase, a junior, ripped off a wind-legal 100m dash PR of 10.38 (1.4) to win the title at the Ventura County Championships at Moorpark HS. He also helped the 4x100m relay team to a CA No. 2-ranked time of 40.97. His 100m time ranks wind-legal CA No. 2 and U.S. No. 12.

Justin Johnson (Jesuit/SJ) - Justin, a junior, ran a CA No. 5 and PR time in the 200m of 21.17 (-0.6) to win the event at the Sacramento Meet of Champions at American River College. He also PR'd with a 10.68 (-0.5) for third in the 100m and helped the 4x100m relay team to a C No. 10 time of 41.79. 

Nickolas Miller (Clovis North/CS) - Nick, a senior, flew to a PR and CA No. 2-ranked long jump of 23-9.50 (2.5) and he helped the 4x100 relay team to a win in a season-best 42.29 at the Sanger Metric Classic at Dodson Field.

Levi Romero (Los Gatos/CC) - Levi, a senior, ran a 48.20 PR to win the CCS Top 8 meet at Los Gatos HS. That time is a 0.64 improvement and moves him to No. 9 in the state rankings. 

Jose Soto (Tulare Western/CS) - Jose, a senior, moved to No. 3 in the state with his winning shot put of 60-2 at the Sacramento Meet of Champions at American River College. With that PR performance, he became just the third 60-plus thrower in California this season. 

Robert Stitts (El Cerrito/NC) - Robert, a senior, won the 100m in 10.45 (-0.5) at the Sacramento Meet of Champions at American River College. His time is a PR that ranks tied for CA No. 6. He also helped the 4x100m relay team to a CA No. 3 time of 41.64.
