POLL Girls Track and Field Performer of the Week

Congratulations to Mari Testa of Campolindo (NC) last week's top vote-getter for MileSplit Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Week.

Mari, a senior, was a double-winner at the West Coast Relays at Buchanan HS in Clovis running a CA No. 8 time of 14.65 (-1.1) in the 100m hurdles, and a CA No. 10 wind-legal 100m time of 11.99 (1.8), a PR.

Mari received 34 percent of the vote in a statewide poll. Jada Gatlin, a senior at Mission Viejo (SS) received 28 percent of the vote, and Sadie Engelhardt, a sophomore at Ventura, was third with 12 percent.

Congratulations to all athletes whose performances warrant consideration in this weekly poll. And thanks to everyone who voted to support these amazing athletes.

This week, it's all Arcadia Invitational. Below are eight of the top CA performers from the weekend elite showcase. No easy choices, as is always the case in the ultra-competitive Golden State.

Check out the resumes below and then make sure to vote in the FanPower module at the bottom of the page. That is where you decide the top girls track and field athlete of the week.

As always, voting closes Friday at 9 p.m.

WHO YA GOT?

This week's candidates

(listed alphabetically by last name)

Mackenzie Browne (J.W. North/SS) - Mackenzie, a senior, ran a meet record 800-meter time of 2:03.07 to win a super-fast race where she beat the previous record-holder as three girls ran under the old MR of 2:05.42. Browne's time is a 5.61-second improvement on her previous PR and a CA No. 3 all-time performance in the two-lap race.

Sadie Engelhardt (Ventura/SS) - Sadie, a sophomore, defended her title in the 1-mile run in a time of 4:36.26, which ranks No. 2 in meet history behind her winning time of 4:35.16 from last year. She now has three of the top 11 girls mile times in national high school history and three of the top six in CA history.

April Fontenette (Notre Dame - Sherman Oaks/SS) - April, a senior, already sitting at U.S. No. 8 in the discus throw with her 158-6 PR from a dual earlier in the week, won the invitational section with a best of 153-1. It is her eighth meet at 150-plus this season and her 11th meet exceeding that distance dating to last May 14.

Meagan Humphries (Castaic/SS) - Meagan, a junior, had a U.S. No. 3 wind-legal triple jump of 39-9.50 (0.4) to win the invitational section. She also tied the CA lead with a 5-8 high jump clearance of second place in the invite section, and somewhere between the sun rays found time to go 19-2.25 in the long jump.

Hannah Riggins (Del Norte/SD) - Hannah, a senior, ran a CA No. 2 and San Diego Section record in the 800 meters of 2:06.69, a day after running a 2:09 split as Del Norte dropped a U.S. No. 1 and CA No. 5 all-time performance in the 4x800m relay of 9:00.77. Riggins' individual 800m performance on Saturday night is a 1.91-second PR.

Hanne Thomsen (Montgomery/NC) - Hanne, a sophomore, ran a U.S. No. 3 time of 9:55.31 for second place in an epic 3200-meter run that saw 10 girls run sub-10.
