Congratulations to April Fontenette of Notre Dame-Sherman Oaks (SS) last week's top vote-getter for MileSplit Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Week.
April, a senior, had a double-PR week, going 43-0 in the shot put at a mid-week tri meet, and throwing the discus 157-9 (U.S. No. 4) at the John Godina Throwers Classic at Notre Dame HS in Sherman Oaks.
April received 48 percent of the vote in a statewide poll. Renae Searls of Alhambra (NC) was second in the voting at 12 percent.

Alyssa Alumbres (Vista Murrieta/SS) - Alyssa, a junior, moved into the No. 2 spot in the state and U.S. No. 10 for all-conditions long jump of 19-4.50 at the Saddle-Up Invitational at Vista Murrieta HS.
Makena Bailey (Chino Hills/SS) - Makena, a junior, equaled the second best outdoor jump of the young season when she cleared 5-7 at the Irvine Asics Invitational at Irvine HS.
Sadie Engelhardt (Ventura/SS) - Sadie, a sophomore, won the 1-mile run at New Balance Nationals Indoor in 4:38.65 to set a U.S. Sophomore Class national record.
Meagan Humphries (Castaic/SS) - Meagan, a junior, placed third in the long jump with an absolute PR of 19-6.75 and tied for second in the high jump with a clearance of 5-7 at the Nike Indoor Nationals in New York.
Angela Schykerynec (Orland/NS) - Angela, a senior, won the weight throw with a best of 57-10.25 at Nike Indoor Nationals in New York, her second indoor win in the event this winter after throwing a U.S.-best 61-8.50 at the Simplot Games in Idaho.
Hanne Thomsen (Montgomery/NC) - Hanne, a sophomore, placed second in the 2-mile run at the New Balance Nationals Indoor in Boston, running a time of 10:07.06, a California state record and the No. 4 time by a sophomore in U.S. prep history.
Jaelyn Williams (Eastlake/SD) - Jaelyn, a freshman, ran a CANo. 2 and U.S. No. 3 time in the 3200 meters of 10:34.58 to win at the Don Jones Bronco Invitational at Rancho Bernardo HS.
