POLL Girls Track and Field Performer of the Week

* * *

Congratulations to Angela Schykerynec of Orland (NS) last week's top vote-getter for MileSplit Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Week.

Angela, a senior headed to Cal in the fall, won the weight throw competition indoors at the Simplot Games at Pocatello, Idaho. Her throw of 61-08.50 while representing Golden State Throwers, is the top weight throw in the U.S. this winter.

Angela received 31 percent of the vote in a statewide poll. Y'Vette Harris, a senior at Lincoln - Stockton (SJ), was second in the voting at 13 percent, and Eliza Ayres, a sophomore at Oakland Tech (OK), received 22 percent.

Congratulations to all athletes whose performances warranted consideration in this weekly poll. And thanks to everyone who voted to support these amazing athletes.

Who's next?

This week, we have a sampling of the outdoor season performances, although the schedule was lighter than expected due to the strong winter storm that forced the cancellation or rescheduling of a handful of marquee meets.

Check out the resumes below and then make sure to vote in the FanPower module at the bottom of the page. That is where you decide the top girls athlete track and field athlete of the week.

As always, voting closes Friday at 9 p.m.
