With winter track underway in the new year, we're wasting no time in acknowledging some of the top performers from this past weekend. We have selected eight outstanding athletes and put them on the line for you to select the first CA T&F Performer of the Week for 2023. 

Check out the resumes below and then make sure to vote in the FanPower module at the bottom of the page. As always, voting closes Friday at 9 p.m. 

So we've gotta ask: WHO YA GOT?


This week's candidates (listed alphabetically by last name)

Jordyn Brooks (Diamond Ranch/SS) - Jordyn, a sophomore, swept the horizontal jumps at the Cal State Fullerton Winter Championships Qualifier meet, going 16-9 in the long jump and 34-3 in the triple jump, both marks qualified her for the CA Winter Championships Feb. 4 at Arcadia HS. 

Maya DeBrouwer (La Canada/SS) - Maya, a sophomore, ran the fastest 3,000 meters of the winter with here 10:04.78 performance at the South Pasadena Winter Championships Qualifier, a time well under the standard for advancing to the CA Winter Championships on Feb. 4 at Arcadia HS.

Aspen Fears (Vista Murrieta/SS) - Aspen, a junior, who won the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 and Masters titles last spring, recorded the top pole vault mark of the new year when she cleared 12 feet at the Cal State Fullerton Winter Qualifier meet, easily eclipsing the qualifying standard for the CA Winter Championships on Feb. 4 at Arcadia HS. 

Meagan Humphries (Golden Valley/SS) - Meagan, a junior, who was the CIF-State Meet runner-up in the high jump and No. 2 returner in CA, opened the winter with an impressive showing at the annual LEAP Fest Jumps-Only meet with a 5-9 clearance, the eighth 5-6-or-higher mark of her high school career. 

Kayla McBride (Ayala/SS) - Kayla, a junior, swept the springs at the Cal State Fullerton Winter Championship Qualifier meet, winning the 60m (7.78) and the 150m (18.42), both marks are well under the standards of 8.54 and 19.75, respectively, to advance to the CA Winter Championships on Feb. 4 at Arcadia HS. 

Kailah McKenzie (Orange Vista/SS) - Kailah, a senior, ran the fastest 60-meter hurdles time so far this winter with her 9.09-second performance at the Cal State Fullerton Winter Championships Qualifier meet, a time that not only easily qualifies her for the CA Winter Championships on Feb. 4 at Arcadia, but is also nearly a second under the boys qualifying standard. 

Emily Psarras (Mission Viejo/SS) - Emily, a University of Arizona-bound senior who was the CIF-Southern Section Masters runner-up and placed seventh at the State Meet, won the long jump competition at the annual LEAP Fest Jumps-Only Showcase, hitting 18-10.25 in the event at Mater Dei HS. 

Mikaela Warr (Canyon Country Canyon/SS) - Mikaela, a junior, swept the sprints at the South Pasadena Winter Qualifier, winning the 60m (7.65), 150m (18.58), and 300m (41.42), all three marks are well under the qualifying standard for the CA Winter Championships Feb. 4 at Arcadia HS.
