Gardena Serra HS senior Rodrick Pleasant, the California record-holder in the 100-meter dash, and Southern Section and CIF-State sprint champion for both 100m and 200m, is also the No. 7-ranked football recruit out of CA and the No. 4-ranked cornerback recruit in the U.S.
On Wednesday, Pleasant pulled out a green and white cap and made official his commitment to the University of Oregon.
Pleasant was among the few CA combo football/track and field standouts who did not publicly committed to a college during the early signing window in December.
Pleasant had considered Boston College, Cal, Oregon, UCLA and USC before ultimately choosing the Ducks.
Cajon (SS) slot/Ath JeyQuan Smith, the other top CA combo star who did not commit in December, is headed to South Florida. He is a native of the Sunshine State and selected the Bulls over Utah and Washington.
The updated grid below lists more than 30 California football recruits who also have a track and field profile with results in the MileSplit database. These athletes range from a multiple-State Meet champion, like Pleasant, to athletes with just one or two track marks on their resume.
