Congratulations to last week's top vote-getter, Juan Chantaca of San Clemente (SS)!!


Chantaca, a senior, was the fastest boy on the course at the two-day Orange County Championships, running 14:26.4 over the 3-mile course at Oak Canyon Park in Silverado. 

Chantaca received a 61 percent of the vote in a statewide poll. Micah Grossman of Ventura (SS) was second in the voting receiving 18 percent of votes.

Each week we will put seven top cross country performers on the line and then leave it up to you to select the overall CA XC Runner of the Week. Our objective each week will be to select top performers from across the state.

Joshua Bell (Templeton/CS) - Bell, a junior, won the small school division Individual Sweepstakes at the Mt. SAC Invitational, running 14:50 to win by 14 seconds on the iconic 3-mile course in Walnut. 

Juan Chantaca (San Clemente/SS) - Chantaca, a senior, led his team to an emphatic victory in the large school Team Sweepstakes race, running 14:55 on the iconic 3-mile course in Walnut as the Tritons were 174 points ahead of their next closest competitor in the merge of the two-day meet where 384 teams scored. 

Ryan Mitchell (Davis/SJ) - Mitchell, a senior, set a meet record at the six-season-old Flat SAC Invitational, running 15:21.81 to win by 22 seconds on the 5K course at Gibson Ranch in Elverta. 

Evan Noonan (Dana Hills/SS) - Noonan, a sophomore, rolled to victory on Friday at the Mt. SAC Invitational, running 14:49 for a 3-second margin of victory in the small school Team Sweepstakes race on the iconic 3-mile course in Walnut. 

Omar Reyes (El Camino/SD) - Reyes, a junior, was the winner of the large school division Individual Sweepstakes race at the Mt. SAC Invitational, running 14:49 for a 5-second margin of victory on the iconic 3-mile course in Walnut. 

Parker Simmons (Crescenta Valley/SS) - Simmons, a senior, was the fastest boy on the course over the two-day Mt. SAC Invitational, running 14:46 for a 9-second margin of victory in the large school Team Sweepstakes race over the iconic 3-mile course in Walnut.

Jake Typrowicz (Palos Verdes/SS) - Typrowicz, a senior, was the fastest boy on the course at the Riverside Invitational, running 15:28.90 over the 3-mile Riverside City Course.
