This is an update from our Sept. 7 statewide "preseason" high school cross country top-10 rankings list for the 2022 fall season.

This is a subjective list adding September competition data to adjust our preseason list.  

BOYS

1. Newbury Park (SS) - Panthers' first true challenge comes Oct. 8. 

2. Granada (NC) - Impressive fourth behind three nationally-ranked teams at Woodbridge.

3. Great Oak (SS) - Wolfpack boys placed fifth at both Woodbridge and Bob Firman.

4. San Clemente (SS) - Tritons were No. 3 CA team at Woodbridge and dominated in Dana Hills win.

5. Ventura (SS) - Cougars were the No. 4 CA team at Woodbridge. 

6. Torrey Pines (SD) - Top team in San Diego was the No. 5 CA team at Woodbridge. 

7. Clovis (CS) - CA's No. 6 team in the elite race at Woodbridge. 

8. Redondo Union (SS) - Fourth at Portland XC with a 46-second 1-5 split.

9. Madera South (CS) - Rebounded from 11th among CA teams at Woodbridge to fifth at Portland.

10. San Luis Obispo (CS) - Wins at Ojai and Atascadero after runner-up placing to Madera South at Morro Bay.



GIRLS

1. Buchanan (CS) - At less than 100%, still the best at Woodbridge, and now U.S. No. 1.

2. JSerra (SS) - Beat nationally-ranked teams at Woodbridge and crushed at Dana Hills.

3. Los Altos (CC) - Top team in NorCal with impressive wins at Lowell and De La Salle.

4. Newbury Park (SS) - Panthers were the No. 3 CA team at Woodbridge.

5. St. Francis (SJ) - Troubies are 3-0 with wins at Oakmont, Lagoon Valley, and Jessup.

6. Rancho Cucamonga (SS) - Running tight 1-5s to impress at Woodbridge and Portland.

7. Campolindo (NC) - Best team at Ed Sias, runner-up to Los Altos at De La Salle.

8. Granite Bay (SJ) - Beat Whitney and Oak Ridge in early league cluster. 

9. Great Oak (SS) - Fifth among CA teams at Woodbridge with a tight 1-5 pack.

10. Torrey Pines (SD) - Top team in San Diego was 8th among CA teams at Woodbridge.
