This week's candidates (listed alphabetically by last name)
Jude DeVries (Montgomery/NC) - The senior rolled to victory at the Viking Opener, running 9:43.9 to win by 36 seconds -- shattering the school meet record by 25 seconds with the No. 2 all-time performance at the 35-season-old meet -- on the hilly 2-mile layout at Spring Lake Park in Santa Rosa.
Sean Morello (Albany/NC) - The senior rolled to victory at the Farmer Invitational, running 14:46.54 over the 3-mile NCS-championship layout to win by more than 21 seconds at Hayward HS.
Grant Morgenfeld (Palo Alto/CS) - Doing double-duty, the junior placed eighth in the Doug Speck Sweepstakes race at Woodbridge on Friday night, running 14:13.00 on the 3-mile layout at Great Park, Irvine, and Saturday he won the Varsity Boys race at the De La Salle Invitational, running 15:07.30 to win by 0.40 seconds on the 3-mile course at Newhall Park in Concord.
Evan Noonan (Dana Hills/SS) - The sophomore was the fastest California boy on the course at the Mt. Carmel Invitational, running 15:20.8 for second place in the Senior Invitational Division 1 race on the 3-mile course at Morley Field in San Diego.
