This week we are taking a scaled-down look at athletes in the 2024 and 2025 class either took over the class lead or improved upon their class lead through their performance last week.
Among those are Madison (SD) sophomore Amirah Shaheed (pictured about) in the sprints, and Long Beach Wilson (SS) frosh Kaylin Edwards (pictured on the banner) in the long hurdles.
Below is a quick look at boys and girls who impacted the top of the rankings, with four highlighted athletes on the following pages.

New Class Leaders ...
BOYS
Devin Bragg (Los Alamitos/SS) - 100m CA freshman class leader after winning his race at Mt. SAC Relays in 10.66 (1.6).
William Isaiah Bright (Murrieta Mesa/SS) - 300mH CA freshman class leader after running 40.83 to win his race at the Inland Empire Championships.
Max McFarlane (Turlock/SJ) - Pole vault CA sophomore class leader after clearing 15-2 for fourth in his second at the Mt. SAC Relays.
GIRLS
Keelan Wright (Vista Murrieta/SS) - 100m CA freshman class all-conditions leader after running 12.21 (2.7) to win her event at the Inland Empire Championships. (Keelan is already the CA class leader in the 200m at 25.123 (1.7) from the Mt. Carmel Invitational.)
Jillene Wetteland (Long Beach Poly/SS) - High jump CA freshman class leader after clearing 5-6 to win her section at the Mt. SAC Relays.
Aja Johnson (Sherman Oaks Notre Dame/SS) - Discus throw CA freshman class leader after a best of 127-10 for fourth place in her section at the Mt. SAC Relays. (Aja is already the state class leader in the shot put at 41-0.50 from her best at the dual with Chaminade.)
