We had saw quite a few frosh/soph track and field athletes who improved their national class ranking over the past week. Here's a sampling:

- Dublin freshman Khaliq Muhammad improved his national-leading pole vault mark to 14-1 in winning the competition at the East Bay Athletic League meet.

-- Clovis East (CS) sophomore Carter Spradling improved on his U.S. class-best time in the 1600m, running 4:16.75 for third place at the Clovis East Carnival.

-- Millikan (SS) sophomore Jason Parra is the U.S. class leader in the 3200m after running 9:05.71 for third place at the Redondo Track Festival. 

-- Long Beach Jordan (SS) sophomore Jordan Washington is the U.S. class leader for wind-legal 100 meter dash times after running 10.60 (0.6) to win at the Rancho Cucamonga Kickoff Classic. 

-- Ventura (SS) freshman Sadie Engelhardt ran a class record for the indoor mile, 4:37.40, for second place at the New Balance Nationals Indoor at The Armory in New York.

Among sophomore girls, there were five CA class-leading marks set last week. We feature two in the section below. The other three are:

-- Meagan Humphries (Golden Valley/SS) 57.37 for 400 meters

-- Mia Torrecillas (Bakersfield Highland/CS) 4:54.99 for 1600m

-- Giselle Kirchner (Rocklin/SJ) 14.87 (-1.5) for 100m hurdles
