Congratulations to all 2022 girls for their selection onto the MileSplitCA All-State Girls Junior Track and Field Team!

Athletes were selected based on rankings within the class as well as statewide rankings regardless of class for marks achieved during the 2021 spring season. Results at section finals, major invitationals, and post-CIF events were also considered. 

Rankings and athlete PRs are based on marks in the MileSplit database. U.S. rankings are within the girls class of 2022 unless noted.

JUNIOR GIRLS ALL-STATE TEAM

FIRST TEAM

Julia Alexander (St. Mary's College/NC) - Jumps

Top combination horizontal jumper in the class. Season-best long jump of 18-9 to win at NorCal Championships. Triple jump PR of 38-3, also went 37-5w for sixth at Arcadia.

Alyssa Bean (Poway/SD) - Sprints

Won CIF-San Diego Section Division 1 titles in the 200m in 24.15 (2.0) and 400m (55.68). Also won 400m at the CIF-SDS Open Championships (55.84) and lowered her PR to 55.13 for second at CA State Champs. 

Takiya Cenci (Clovis North/CS) - Sprints

A top 200m/m400 runner in the state, hit season bests of 23.96 (2.8) for 200m to win TRAC Championship and 54.36 for 400m to win the CIF-Central Section North Area qualifier. Also CIF-Central Section Masters champion for 400m and runner-up for 200m. 

Riley Chamberlain (Del Oro/SJ)- Distance

Ran 1600m season-best of 4:50.75 to win at Sundown Track Series #2, her 3200m SB of 10:27.22 for second at Sundown Track Series #3, and her mile PR of 4:50.22 for second at Golden West. Ranks as the No. 3 1600m/3200m combo runner in the class. 

Mia Chavez (Chino/SS) - Distance

Dropped her 800m PR to 2:08.12 in winning at CA State Champs, a time that ranks U.S. No. 10. CIF-Southern Section Division 2 champion for 800m (2:12.12) and 1600m (4:59.23 PR). 

Kaho Cichon (Fountain Valley/SS) - Distance

Chased Chavez at that super-fast 800m race at CA State Champs for a PR of 2:08.86 PR (U.S. No. 17). Ran previous best of 2:10.07 in winning the 800m title at the CIF-SS D-1 Finals.

Kylee Davis (Golden Valley/SS) - Jumps

Versatile jumper won high jump and long jump titles at the CIF-SS D-2 Finals, with class-leading bests of 5-6 and 19-2.25 (2.0). She is among six in the class to have cleared 5-6 in the high jump. Her long jump mark leads the class, ranks CA No. 7 overall, and ranks tied for U.S. No. 10 for wind-legal marks.

Ranks No. 1 in the class for 800m/1600m combination times and No. 2 in the class for 1600m/3200m. Has bests of 2:09.43, 4:46.34 and 10:15.61. Her U.S. rankings in the class are No. 20 for 800, No. 15 for 1600m and No. 9 for 3200m.

Charlize James (San Diego/SD) - Hurdles

Ran wind-legal 100m hurdles time of 14.10 (0.2) to win at CA State Champs, after also winning at CIF-SDS Open. That time ranks U.S. No. 10 among wind-legal marks and No. 13 for all conditions. Her 300m hurdles best of 43.75 to win CIF-SDS Division 1 is tied for U.S. No. 25

Naomi Johnson (Roosevelt/SS) - Sprints

Placed third in the 400m (with season-best 55.05), and fourth in the 200m at the CIF-SS D-1 1 Finals. Ranks among the top four 100m/200m and 200m/400m combination sprinters in the class.

Allison Leigh (Del Norte/SD) - Pole Vault

Became only the fifth girl in CA state history to clear 14 feet, which she did at the CIF-SDS D-1 Finals. That mark ranks third overall in the state, U.S. No. 2 in the class, and, U.S. No. 8 overall.

Aaliyah McCormick (Scripps Ranch/SD) - Hurdles

Top combo hurdler in the class. State leader for both 100mH and 300mH. Ran 100mH best of 13.85 (1.2) to win CIF-SDS D-2 title. That time ranks U.S. No. 3 (wl) and U.S. No. 6 all conditions. Ran 300mH best of 42.77 to win CIF-SDS D2 title, a time that ranks tied for U.S. No. 8.

Samantha McDonnell (Newbury Park/SS) - Distance

Her 1600m best of 4:46.50 for third at Sundown Track Series No. 3, ranks CA No. 4 overall and U.S. No. 16 in the class. Her 3200m best of 10:38.99 ranks CA No. 7 in the class.

Samarra Monrroy (Millikan/SS) - Sprints

The 2019 CIF-State Meet runner-up for 400m, ran a season-best time of 54.95 for second at CIF-SS D-1 Finals. She also placed second at the D-1 meet in the 200m with a 24.47 PR (1.4). Her 400m time ranks second in the class, No. 5 in CA overall, and No. 23 U.S. in the class. Her 200m time ranks fifth in the class for wind-legal marks.

Sophia Nordenholz (Albany/NC) - Distance

Emerged as one of the state's elites this spring by twice sweeping 1600m/3200m titles at the Dublin Social Distance Fiesta meets No. 2 and No. 3. Her 4:53.26 for 1600m at DSDS No. 3 ranks CA No. 4 in the class. Her 10:05.91 PR for 3200m while placing second at Arcadia ranks CA No. 1 in the class and U.S. No. 4.

Top combination thrower in the class. Discus throw best of 144-6 to win the CIF-Central Section North Area Regional is No. 1 in the class and ranks U.S. No. 12. Her shot put best of 42-7 ranks CA No. 2 in the class. Won the title in the shot put and placed third in the discus at CIF-CS Masters.

Raykiyat Olukoju (J.W. North/SS) - Sprints

Top combination sprinter in the class with all-conditions bests of 11.67 (3.5) and 23.89 (1.3). Both marks were set while winning the respective event titles at CIF-SS D-22 Finals. Her 200m best ranks U.S. No. 9 for wind-legal marks. Won six of seven 100m races and her final six 200m races.

Miliana Perez (Clovis North/CS) - Distance

Ranks among the top three in the class for both 800m/1600m combined times and 1600m/3200m combined times. Ran 1600m PR of 4:48.51 to win the TRAC title. She also won the 1600m at CIF-Central Section North Area Regional (4:49.58) and CIF-CS Masters (4:53.56, in triple-digit heat). Ran 3200m best of 10:34.36 at Arcadia. Ran 800m PR of 2:15.56 for second at the North Area Regional. Placed third in the 800m at CIF-CS Masters.

Shelby Richmond (Thousand Oaks/SS) - Sprints

Ran personal best times to placed second in the 400m (55.94) and third in the 200m (24.23) at the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 Finals. Ran 100m PR of 11.86 (3.9) for second at Ventura County Championships, CA No. 4 (all conditions). Ran wind-legal best 100m of 11.99 (1.9) at Arcadia.

Daniela Ruelas (Arroyo Grande/CS) - Hurdles

Among the top three combination hurdlers in the class. She is the CIF-Central Section Masters champion for 100m hurdles and the CS runner-up for 300mH. Ran her 100mH PR of 14.25 (1.0) at CA State Champs Prelims (U.S. No. 14wl). She ran her 300mH PR of 43.83 at CS Masters.

Stormy Wallace (Sage Creek/SD) - Distance

Closed out the year by winning both the 1600m (5:03.92 PR) and 3200m (10:52.49) at CIF-SDS D-3 Finals, and then dropped a 10:31.65 PR for 3200m to win CA State Champs.

Zanae Woods (Calabasas/SS) - Sprints

Placed third in the 100m and fourth in the 200m at the CIF-SS Division 2 Finals. Ran 100m best of 11.78 (3.5) to win at Ventura County Championships. Wind-legal best of 11.96 (1.6) leads the class. 


SECOND TEAM

Torre Anderson (Foothill Pleasanton/NC) - High Jump - 5-6 (among six girls in the class to clear 5-6). Also, won the long jump (18-6) at the Tri Valley Championships.

Jessi Barry (Valley Christian/CC) - Triple Jump - Hit PR of 38-1 to win the triple jump title at the CIF-Central Coast Section Championships. She is one of only two girls in the class with at least 38-foot jumps. Barry, who has a long jump best of 17-11.50, placed second in CCS (17-4.25).

Aryana Boostani (Cathedral Catholic/SD) - Sprints - Won 100m and 200m titles at CIF-SDS Division 2 Finals.

Isabella Chilcutt (Bella Vista/SJ) - High Jump - 5-6 (among six girls in the class to clear 5-6). Cleared 5-5 to with the Capital Valley Conference title and had four other meets with a best of 5-4.

Elizabeth Churchill (Aptos/CC) - High Jump -  Cleared 5-6 to win the CIF-Central Coast Section title. (She is among six girls in the class to clear that height). Also, placed second at the CCS Finals in the 100mH (16.09) and seventh in the long jump (16-8.25).

Madeleine Conte (Monrovia/SS) - Hurdles - Ran 300mH best of 43.55 for second at CA State Champs. Won 300mH (44.01) and placed second in the 100mH (14.73/2.2) at CIF-SS D-3 Finals.

Madeline Cramer (Bishop's School/SD) - Sprints - Placed second in the 400m and fifth in the 400m at CIF-SDS Open. Won 400m (55.86) and placed second in the 200m with 24.97 (1.4) PR at CIF-SDS D-3 Finals.

Eve Divinity (Redondo Union/SS) - Long Jump - She is the only other CA girl in the class to exceed 19 feet, hitting her PR of 19-1 (0.0) to win the Pasadena Games. A CIF-SS D-1 finalist in the long jump (4th, 18-1.50), 100m (7th, 12.25w), and 200m (8th, 25.33). 

Chinyere Egbuziem (Buchanan/CS) - Throws - Bests of 143-9 (discus throw) and 38-4.50 (shot put). No. 2 discus thrower in the class. Had four meets of 140-plus.

Caroline Glessing (Corona del Mar/SS) - Sprints/Jumps - CIF-Southern Section Division 3 champion for 200m (24.51w, PR), and runner-up for both 100m (12.17w, Pr) and long jump (18-2). Hit LJ PR of 18-6 for fourth at CA State Champs.

Hope Gordon (Sherman Oaks Notre Dame/SS) - Throws - Shot put best of 45-8 ranks CA No. 1 and U.S. No. 8. Ranks as No. 3 combo thrower in the class. Arcadia (45-7.25) and CIF-SS D-3 champion (42-10.25).

Marie Jones (Terra Linda/NC) - Triple Jump - Hit class-best 38-3 (2.0) to win the triple jump at the Redwood Empire Area Showcase. That mark ranks CA No. 7 overall and U.S. No. 17.

Mara Lampsas (California/NC) - High Jump/Hurdles - Cleared a class-best 5-6 on consecutive weekends in April and concluded the season with a 5-5 clearance to win the Tri Valley Championships. (She is among six girls in the class to clear 5-6). Also placed second in both hurdles races at the Tri Valley Championships.

Ava McCumber Gandara (Sherman Oaks Notre Dame/SS) - Sprints - Won 400m (55.65 PR) and placed second in the 200m (24.78/3.1) at CIF-SS D-3 Finals. PRs of 24.35 (2.2) and 55.65 rank top-six in the class.

Annika Salz (Torrey Pines/SD) - Distance - 4:57.48 PR for second at CIF-SDS D-1 ranks seventh in the class for 1600m and 10:35.93 ranks fifth in the class for 3200m.

Zharia Taylor (Long Beach Poly/SS) - High Jump - Won the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 title with a PR clearance of 5-6 (she is among six girls in the class with that clearance). She also cleared 5-6 to win the Triton Invitational.
