Long Beach Millikan sophomore Samarra Monrroy put on a show on Saturday at the third Long Beach Poly TrackRabbit Invitational.

Monrroy, second at the CIF-State Meet in the 400 meters last May as a freshman, is the No. 2 returner in the state in that event with a personal best of 54.16 run in winning the title at the Southern Section Masters Meet.

She ran second to Katriina Wright, now a junior at University City (SD), at the State Final, crossing in 54.25.

On Saturday, at the shiny new stadium on the Long Beach Poly campus, Monrroy ran the second leg on the 4x100 relay, and anchored both 4x200 and 4x400 Millikan relay teams to victory, coming from behind to win on both anchor legs.

Check out her performances:

4x100 RELAY -- Running second leg, she has to hesitate and wait before getting the baton. She still sprints herself back into the picture -- literally -- and Millikan goes on to win.

4x200 RELAY -- Monrroy quickly makes up a-small deficit, pulls even before the straightaway, starts to pull ahead with 100 to go and methodically powers her way to victory.

4x400 RELAY -- Monrroy receives the baton for her anchor leg in second place. She's working with about a 10-meter deficit until she starts to close that gap down the backstretch. Unlike in the 4x200, here Monrroy pulls even on the curve and immediately surges into the lead. She leaves no doubt over that final 100 meters. Stay with the video to get a better sense of the effort Monrroy put out in this Leap Day event, the second Saturday of the outdoor track season.
