The stellar cross country career of Skyline High senior Eleanor Wikstrom came to an end when she placed 10th in the Division III race at the CIF-State Championships.

Wikstrom's placing matches Caroline Garrett's 10th place finish in 2017 as the highest ever at the State Meet by a girl from the CIF-Oakland Section.

Wikstrom ran the Woodward Park 5000-meter course in 18:13.70 and was fifth among girls in the senior class. Her time, in her third trip to the State Final, was a 20-second improvement and her placement 21 spots better than her finish as a junior running in Division II.

Her season included a 5K PR of 18:02.70 run at the Clovis Invitational on the State Meet course and her first section individual title.

Skyline senior William Boyd beat junior teammate Jonathan Simmons for the section's boys individual title. Simmons fared better at the State Meet placing 68th, the highest of boys from the section.
