DIVISION IV
BOYS
1. Sir Francis Drake (NC) -- Rolled to the MCAL title Wednesday, and got closer to being 100%. Deep enough as they ran Wednesday to compete for the title, but with one more top 5 runner back in the fold they would be very hard to beat.
2. Scotts Valley (CC) -- Dominated in the SCCAL Championship with four under 16 minutes and a 1:04 1-6 split. That's the profile of a contender at the state meet.
3. Foothill Technology (SS) -- Missing a BUNCH of runners at Apache, so impossible to judge. Looked near 100% in winning Tri Valley League. Depth after 4 is a concern.
4. Laguna Beach (SS) -- Won Sunset Conference against D1 and D2 schools. May be short one top 7 runner who hasn't raced recently, but deep enough to overcome that.
5. King City (CC) -- Big win at PCAL Championships on a tough Toro Park course, but they didn't look as deep as their season bests indicate.
6. JSerra (SS) -- Depth is developing, but still a gap after 4. Won Trinity League solidly. They need all hands on deck and fully healthy to contend for the title.
7. Cathedral (SS) -- Appear to be healthy, dominated in Camino Del Rey League.
8. Crawford (SD) -- Ran even with Cathedral at Mt. SAC, best D4 team at Apache (outpacing South Pasadena)
9. South Pasadena (SS) -- Are they fully healthy? Won Rio Hondo League handily, but outrun by Crawford and Ocean View at Apache.
10. Fillmore (SS) -- Won Citrus Coast League, looked 100% healthy.
Others: Acalanes (NC), Calaveras (SJ), Chowchilla (CS), Ocean View (SS).
GIRLS
1. Sage Creek (SD) -- League championship this weekend, but as long as they stay healthy they will carry favorite status to Clovis.
2. Menlo School (CC) -- Rolled to the WBAL title with 5 runners under 19 minutes at Crystal Springs, which is comparable to Woodward Park. That would have won D4 at states last year!
3. Orange Lutheran (SS) -- Did not run top 7 at Apache, but dominated in Trinity League final.
4. Laguna Beach (SS) -- Tied with D1 Los Alamitos in Sunset Conference, losing on tiebreaker - a very good performance.
5. Mayfield (SS) -- Steamrolled the competition in the Prep League final. This team has solid depth and a big gun up front, but has a sizable gap in the middle of the top 7.
6. Costa Mesa (SS) -- Edged Santa Ana (a D1 squad) in the Orange Coast League final, but depth was a serious concern in that race. Are they 100% going into CIF?
7. Covina (SS) -- Disregard Apache results, they were missing several top 5 runners. Won Valle Vista League title.
8. Bishop Amat (SS) -- outran South Pasadena plus depleted Covina & Orange Lutheran at Apache
9. Marin Catholic (NC) -- Finished fourth in the MCAL finals Wednesday, losing to Sir Francis Drake. When racing their full top 5 on the season they are top 10 in the state, but when missing even one runner from that group they may not be deep enough to contend.
10. Miramonte (NC) -- Finished 3rd in Diablo Athletic League final, behind D3 Campolindo and D2 College Park.
Others: La Canada (SS), Piedmont (NC), South Pasadena (SS)
