Northern Section Season In Review

These two have combined for nine section titles and have each qualified for the State Meet the last three years. Harper's 2:10.58 PR in placing third in the 800 at State on May 25 ranks third in NS history. Rogers' 44-06.50 shot put from the May 9 NS Division 2 final ranks No. 2 in section history and her discus throw PR of 146-09 from the May 17 section final ranks NS No. 7. 

Giannini, a two-time State Meet qualifier in the 3200, had the section's fastest times in both the 1600 and 3200 but choose to drop the four-lap race after winning the NS Division 1 title despite having a four-plus second gap on the next fastest runner in the section. In the eight-lap 32, his 9:19.83 PR at State ranks No. 17 in section history. Northrup dominated both hurdles in the section, which helped Foothill to the NS team title. Northrup won seven of 11 races in the 110s and placed 15th among qualifiers at the State Meet, running a 14.68 PR. In the 300 hurdles, he also won seven of 11 races, ran a 39.69 PR at league, and placed 23rd in qualifying at State. He won the section title in both after placing second in both as a junior.
