GIRLS RUNNER OF THE YEAR
The section girls' runner of the year wasn't quite as clear-cut but in the end, Healdsburg senior Gabrielle Peterson ended up as my choice for runner of the year. She recorded a near perfect season save for a less than stellar effort at the Stanford Invitational. She won her first state individual title in the Division V race running an uncontested time of 17:44.3. She finished 5th at the Foot Locker West Region meet at Mt. SAC and followed that up with a 23rd place finish at the national meet at Balboa Park. Following this spring Track and Field season, Peterson will take her talents to Corvallis and Oregon State University.
