Girls: La Canada freshman Kayley Bond was second to Lane (17:38), the second-fastest time among the two heats. JSerra junior Nadia Tabrizi won the first heat (17:40.90) with Orange Lutheran freshman Sophia Gutierrez second (17:50.40).
Boys: JSerra's sensational sophomore Anthony Grover not only had the fastest time in the division, he had the fastest time of the day and the fifth-fastest time over the two-day event (14:57.60). Grover placed fourth in the division last season as a freshman and is the No. 5 returner from the 2016 State final. His JSerra teammate Peter Herold had the division's No. 2 time (15:27.40) finishing second to Grover in the heat. Crean Lutheran junior Garrett Miller won the other heat (15:28.70) with Cathedral junior Alberto Lopez second (15:38.40).
