#7 Alex Scales (Bellarmine) 4 x 800 meter relay, 800 meters and Distance Medley Relay

Bellarmine has had a long history of success in Cross Country. Their army of boys have dominated in the Central Coast Section (CCS) for many years. This Track and Field season, Bellarmine has continued their roll from the fall by establishing a new US #1 in the Distance Medley Relay set at the Stanford Invitational with a time of 10:03.67. Last Friday, Bellarmine won the 4 x 800 meter relay to establish a new US #1 at 7:45.56. That time also established a new CCS record for the Bells. Leading off for the team was junior Alex Scales (Ben Crawford photo) who recorded a personal best of 1:52.2. He returned on Saturday and showed that there was plenty left in the tank as he won the invitational section of the 800 with a time of 1:50.64 (US #4). An awesome double for Scales but he was definitely not done. Later that evening, Scales returned to anchor the DMR team as he received the baton in 7th place. He moved up gradually during the first three laps and eventually powered away from the field to record a third victory with a 4:09.9 anchor leg.
