The California Performer of the Week poll will close at 5 p.m. PST on Thursday, March 13, and the winner will be announced shortly after.

CANDIDATES

Jaden Jefferson (De La Salle)At the Redondo Nike Invitational, forty-seven boys broke the 11-second barrier in the 100m but Jaden Jefferson was king on the day. Jefferson ran a California-leading 10.41 in the 100m to win the Varsity Boys 100m.

McKay Madsen (Clovis North): California's leader in the shot put and discus continued to cement his dominance by winning both events at Redondo. He threw 64-3 in the shot put and 202-4 in the discus.

Lucas Alberts (Jesuit)Up in NorCal, the sophomore out of Jesuit ran a new California-leading time in the 800m. He won the Bronco Round Up Invitational in 1:52.58 to open up his season in about a 3-second PR.

Josiah Bowman (Sage Creek)The Irvine ASICS Track and Field Invitational was headlined by a huge 1600m and 800m double from Josiah Brown. The senior out of Sage Creek ran 4:10.39 in the 1600m and 1:53.28 in the 800m to win both of his season openers.

William Isaiah Bright (Murrieta Mesa): Bright won the varsity boys' 110m hurdles at Redondo with a nation-leading time of 13.87. Not too shabby for his first 110m hurdle race of the year.

Quinten Mitchell (Antelope): Gravity was defied at the Sacramento State High School Classic when Quinten Mitchell approached the high jump this past weekend. He jumped 6-10 to tie for the California lead and achieved a 2-foot personal record.
