POLL: CA Girls Performer of the Week (March 10-16)

Makenna Herbst was named last week's CA Girls Performer of the week. 

We'll conduct a poll every week highlighting some of California's best performances.

The California Performer of the Week poll will close at 5 p.m. PST on Thursday, March 20, and the winner will be announced shortly after.

CANDIDATES  

Hanne Thomsen (Montgomery)After an impressive 1600m and 3200m double at the beginning of March, Hanne Thomsen brought that same energy to New Balance Indoor Nationals. Thomsen ran 4:40.85 to finish 3rd in the mile and 10:07.44 to finish 2nd in the 2 mile.

Kaylin Edwards (Long Beach Wilson)During indoor nationals, Kaylin Edwards completed an extraordinary double at the California Relays in the 300m hurdles, 100m hurdles, and 400m dash. She won both hurdle races with a CA No.1 in the 300m hurdles and PRed in the 400m by clocking 55.66.

Rylee Blade (Santiago)For the first time this season, Rylee Blade didn't race in a relay; she ran her first individual race at Nike Indoor Nationals. In her first event, Blade placed 2nd in the 5000m to break the U20 American record with a time of 15:16.72. She is now No.2 all-time for U.S. high school girls and U20 Americans. Blade also ran 4:42 in the Mile and won the Distance Medley Relay national championship with Santiago High School.

Shelly Coates (Great Oak): An undefeated 2025 season continues for Shelly Coates with a season record of 12-6 in the pole vault at the Triton Invitational. Coates is now tied for the California state lead as she continues establishing herself as a State title contender.  

Lyric Scott (Canyon): While running on the 4x100m and 4x400m at the California Relays, Lyric Scott sets a PR in the open 400m. The freshman ran 55.68 to win the 400m and placed herself as the fourth fastest freshman in the nation.
