Jasmin Reed Posts Two National Top 3's in Seattle

The Serra senior showed that she is set for big times this spring, after dominating the field at the UW High School Invite.

Several California athletes traveled to Seattle and Boise this past weekend, and a handful came home with national rankings to show for their efforts. Nobody had a bigger performance than Jasmin Reed (Serra), who set a UW High School Invitational record in the 60 Dash with a time of 7.42. She then went on to dominate the field in the 200, clocking 24.03 to win by over a second. When the dust settled from the weekend's indoor races across the country, Reed stood at US #2 in the 200 and US #3 in the 60. That's extremely impressive, even for the #5 returner from the #4 returner in the state in the 100. It looks like Jasmin is ready to drop under 11.50 this spring and challenge for national recognition!

She wasn't the only California girl to do well at UW, either. Tierra Crockrell (Calabasas) continued to have a strong indoor season, finishing 2nd in the long jump with a mark of 18' 7". She also finished 2nd in the 60 Hurdles, clocking 8.95, and she threw the shot put 33' 11.25" (she's got a bright future in the multi events!).

Many other Golden State athletes brought home state-leading marks from Seattle, including Chase Wells (St. Bonaventure), who took over the top spot in the CA 200 rankings with a 22.20. Ethan Duffy (Newbury Park) posted an 8:58.83 3000, best in the state so far this winter, and Nathyn Scruggs (Fresno Central)  ran 7.06 in the 60 Dash. Finally, Janiah Brown (Calabasas) clocked a 2:17.94 800 on the University of Washington oval, tops in California so far this year.
