15) Connor Dunne San Clemente (SS) The first eye opening result of the 2016 season took place at the Azusa Meet of Champions when Connor Dunne won the mile over the state 1600 defending champion Austin Tamagno. Dunne ran a lifetime best 4:04.59 to lead 10 other runners under the 4:10 barrier. He then went on to win the Stanford Invitational 800m in 1:50.53, Arcadia mile in 4:09.45 and the SS Masters 800 in 1:50.41. At the CA state meet, Dunne led the 800 after the first turn and made sure that it was an honest race. He held the lead until the top of the last straight when the field took advantage of the tiring leader. He finished in 7th place with a time of 1:53.88. Despite the tough ending, Dunne had a terrific season and helped set up one of the greatest distance doubles we have seen at the CA state meet.
