Division 2 Varsity Previews
Samantha Barajas (Simi Valley) will be a sizable favorite in her race, as her PR this season is over 20 seconds faster than the next best girl in any of the non-sweeps D2 races. Jalen Burns (Buena) will be in a different section, so they will both have to race the course to try to post the best time. Hart, led by Anely Avila, looks like the best team in the division, with Redlands and Simi Valley the closest challengers in Race #104. Mater Dei won't race those three directly, but could post a strong team time from Race #100.
Marcus Mota (Stockdale) may have had his breakout race at Stanford, but he can really springboard himself into a strong championship season with a big performance Saturday. He'll be in Race #103, and the only other runner in the non-Sweeps D2 races that has broken 15 is in Race #105 - that's Jonathan Lee (Agoura). The top three teams in the division are all in that last race: Hueneme, Simi Valley, and Hemet. Any of the three could come out on top of that race, and my bet is that they push each other to the top three team times in the division in some order.
The event will be streamed live on FloTrack and available to MileSplit Universal Subscribers.
