2013 and 2015 state long jump champion Courtney Corrin Harvard Westlake (SS) will unfortunately not participate at this year's state meet due to a fractured right toe that ended her season in April. Despite the injury, Tara Davis Agoura (SS) would have been the favorite nonetheless considering she is undefeated in this event this season and has the best two jumps this season at 20'8.25" (wind aided) and 20'3.75" (wind legal). She will be pushed by SS Masters Meet 2nd place finisher (19'8.25") Destiny Longmire Rancho Verde (SS) who also has a wind aided 20'3.75" and finished in 6th place at last year's state meet. Central Section champion Rhesa Foster Clovis North has also surpassed 20 feet this year with a 20'2.5" mark. Section champions Katherine Jackson Rodriguez (SJS) 19'9.5" and Caice Lanovaz Los Gatos (CCS) 19'6.25" will also be in the hunt for a podium finish.

Boys Favorite:
 Lawrence White Ridgeview (CE) 24'8.25"
Leading Contenders: Isaiah Holmes Oakmont (SJS) 25'11.5", Tanner Battikha St. Augustine (SDS)
State Meet Record: James Stallworth Tulare (CE) 26'4.75"

Lawrence White Ridgeview (CE) has been the state's most consistent jumper in May (photo above courtesy of Bakersfield Varsity Live). He won his section meet with a jump of 24'0.5" and has a season best of 24'9.5". The best long jump mark, under all conditions, is Isaiah Holmes Oakmont (SJS) 25'11.5" wind aided effort to win the SJS Masters Meet. It will be very difficult to beat Holmes at the state meet if he were to match that mark but he will be one of the busiest competitor juggling the long jump along with the high hurdles, triple jump and high jump. Other competitors that will also be in contention are SJS Masters Meet 2nd place finisher Anthony Cable Rodriguez as well as section champion, Matthew DeRoos Tri-City (SDS). Tanner Battikha St. Augustine (SDS) finished in 2nd place behind DeRoos and does have state meet experience.
