Teams to Watch
Our database says that University Prep is the most likely team to claim the single state-meet spot from this division, although their returning 3 Mile team doesn't have a huge margin over the schools chasing them. Colusa's top 5 are definitely within striking range for the top spot, although depth is a big concern for Redhawks. Durham has a balanced team that is deeper than many of the others we're mentioning here, but lacks a low-scoring front-runner; on the other hand, Mt. Shasta has a star up front while desperately needing to improve at the #5 spot.

Athletes to Watch (Individual Rankings)
Defending section champion Ben Harper (Trinity) returns as the only runner under 16 minutes on the West Valley 3 Mile course last November, but Chris Morzenti (Mt. Shasta) may have caught up some in track season. Morzenti led the section in the 1600 (4:17.67), although Harper dominated in the 3200 during the spring. At the very least, this should be an entertaining battle for the individual title. It's a long way back from those two to Michael Cramer (University Prep), who did have a strong 5K time earlier in the 2014 season.
