McKenna Brown - interview Jan 21, 2018

La Costa Canyon senior McKenna Brown chatted with MileSplitCA after running 4:38.19 for the 1,500 meters as a tune-up to next week's UW Indoor in Seattle. Brown is one of the top 1,600 runners from last year's CIF-State meet and is coming off a XC season where she was the State runner-up in Division 3.

Skyler Magula - interview Jan 21, 2018

Huntington Beach Marina junior Skyler Magula cleared 15-feet at the Irvine All-Comers on Jan. 20 a week after going 15-4 at the National Pole Vault Summit in Reno. He chatted with MileSplitCA about his great start to 2018, his goals for the spring season, and his experience at the NPVS in Reno.

Girls 600 H2 finish Jan 21, 2018

Los Alamitos sophomore Olivia Poland wins this heat of the girls 600 at the Irvine All-Comers meet. Her time of 1:48.47 was the fifth-fastest of the meet but missed the 1:46.00 standard for the CA Winter Championships. Athletes have three more weeks in which to hit a qualifying mark for the Feb. 17 event at Arcadia HS.

Fountain Valley senior Courtnee Moreno wins this heat of the 60-meter dash in 8.17, the third-fastest time of the meet. Her time also is under the qualifying cutoff of 8.25 for the CA Winter Championships.

Woodbridge junior Simran Malhotra wins this heat of the 60m in 8.12, the meet's fastest time and under the 8.25 standard to qualify for the CA Winter Championships.

Bethany Nguyen, a junior at Irvine Beckman HS, wins this heat of the girls 60-meter dash. Her time of 8.13 is the second-fastest of the meet and is under the 8.25 qualifying standard for the Feb. 17 CA Winter Championships at Arcadia.

Girls 300 H1 Jan 21, 2018

Woodbridge junior Simran Malhotra holds off Yorba Linda senior Sarah Heckel to win the 300m heat (42.85) at the Irvine All-Comers. Both Malhotra and Heckel (43.01) posted qualifying marks for the CA Winter Championships. Malhotra also ran the day's fastest 60m dash (8.12).

Boys 1,500 H4 Jan 21, 2018

Trabuco Hills junior Joshua O'Neill runs the day's fastest time to win this heat of the 1,500 but his time of 4:20.07 is just over the Winter Championships qualifying standard of 4:20.00.

Girls High Jump finals Jan 21, 2018

Caylan Medley of Temecula Linfield Christian clears 5-4 in the high jump at the Irvine All-Comers. She and Sara Griffith were there only two jumpers to clear at least 5-0 to qualify for the Feb. 17 Winter Championships. Griffith cleared 5-2.
