Fahy and Wallace Named CA Track & Field Gatorade Athletes of the Year

Darren Fahy (Sr., La Costa Canyon) earned his second Gatorade award this week with the addition of the CA Gatorade Track & Field Athlete of the year.  

Fahy won both the 1600 and the 3200 meter run at the California State Meet on June 2nd clocking a swift 4:08.78 in the 1600 and 9:03.29 in the 3200.  Fahy is ranked 2nd in California in the 1600 and 12th Nationally.  In the 3200 Fahy ran an 8:54.51 at the Arcadia Invitational to place him #1 in California and US#6.  

Fahy has a 3.74 grade point average and will be heading to Georgetown University on an athletic scholarship.

Holy Names junior Sasha Wallace was named the CA Gatorade Track and Field Athlete of the year for her hurdles and jumps.  

Wallace is a two time California State Champion in both the 100 hurdles and the triple jump running a 13.33 in the hurdles and jumping 41-7.5 (prelims) in the triple jump.  Wallace is ranked #1 in California in both events.  Her 42-04.75 triple jump at the Mt. Sac Relays has earned her a US#2 spot on the National Leader Board and her un-aided 100 hurdle time puts her at US#1.
