Week 2 Highlights: Lowell, Seaside, Ed Sias, and More!

Seaside Invitational Highlights

Claudia Lane (Malibu) set the tone for the whole meet in the sophomore race when she clocked 16:25.0, the #1 time in California so far this year.  She beat a strong competitor, Devianna Salcedo (McFarland), by 1:18, signalling that she is ready to join the conversation about the top runners in the state. Christina Rice (Dos Pueblos) won the senior race in 17:20, the second-fastest time of the day.  In the junior race, Mariah Moro (Notre Dame SO) posted a time of 17:26.9 to take the win.  Great Oak's girls had the best overall results, led by senior Michelle McIntosh and freshman Audrey Dang (as the Wolfpack did not race at least their top 7).

For the boys, the battle for the top time of the day was MUCH closer. Senior David Moreno (Quartz Hill) had to run 14:52.20 to earn that honor because junior Ben Hamer (Palisades) clocked 14:52.30 in his race.  Both won by 3 seconds over their nearest grade-level challengers, Hunter Clark (Dos Pueblos) in the senior race and Ricardo Torres (Channel Islands) for the juniors.  Great Oak's boys showed their young talent, going 1-2 in both the freshman and sophomore races, but it was the pair of Justin Eipp and Anthony Ruiz that posted the top times for the Wolfpack. Eipp finished 4th in the senior race by running 14:57.10 with Ruiz just 7 tenths of a second behind.
