Several athletes who lay claim to US #1’s for the current indoor season will be descending upon Lexington, Kentucky this Saturday for the Annual UK High School Indoor Invitational. Due to the central location of the meet, the athletes come from as far south as Florida and Alabama and normally include a high-quality group of athletes from the Midwest as well. Dylan Ferris (NC) (left), the top returnee at 800m this season, was scheduled to compete against Andrew Perkins (WI), the second-ranked returnee at 800m, at the University of Kentucky High School Invitational this coming weekend. However, Ferris will not compete this coming weekend after coming down with an illness last week. Despite this setback, Ferris will continue to push forward and is scheduled to compete at the NSIC meet in New York City according to NCRunners.com Ben Hovis.

North Carolina's high school athletes have had a great season thus far, but it is far from over. The following athletes are competing this weekend at the Junior Nationals event. This is basically for college freshmen and HS athletes. With competing here, the hope is to qualify for the World event to be held in Brazil later this summer.

Dylan Ferris is heading into this weekend's Nike Outdoor National meet with a lot of confidence. In the last 2 weeks, he has run a 4:08.1 true mile and the nation's #1 800 meter time, 1:49.27.
