California high school track and field athletes posted several personal records during competition the week of March 30.
Kevin Alvarez (San Pasqual, Escondido) threw 56-6 in the shot put at Escondido vs San Pasqual on April 1, improving from his previous best of 26-5.5. The mark places him 42nd in California among 15,559 athletes. Alvarez won the event among 18 competitors.
Eva Quinonez (San Ysidro, San Diego) cleared 12-3 in the pole vault at the UC Classic on April 4, bettering her previous personal record of 11-0. The height ranks 17th in California among 2,448 athletes and sets a San Ysidro High School record. Quinonez placed first among 28 vaulters.
Kaelynn Hodge (Quartz Hill) cleared 5-4 in the high jump at the Quartz Hill, Highland, Littlerock Tri Meet on April 1, improving from 5-0. The sophomore ranks 43rd in California among 4,940 athletes and third among 815 sophomores statewide. Hodge also improved her triple jump personal record from 32-1 to 32-5 at the same meet.
Sungju Bae (Fullerton Union) jumped 26-6.5 in the long jump at Fullerton vs. Laguna Hills Dual on April 2, improving from 21-11.5. The junior ranks first in California among 15,920 athletes and sets a Fullerton Union school record. Bae also lowered his 100-meter time from 11.71 to 11.68.
Myles Miller (Leuzinger, Lawndale) ran 21.43 in the 200 meters at the Covina Invitational on April 3, improving from 22.75 set in April 2025. The mark ranks 62nd in California among 34,425 athletes and establishes a Leuzinger High School record. Miller won the race among 158 competitors.
Italia Centanaro (Eleanor Roosevelt, Corona) cleared 11-5 in the pole vault at Roosevelt vs Santiago on April 2, improving from 10-6. The senior ranks 48th in California among 2,448 athletes and 11th among 406 seniors statewide. Centanaro placed first among 10 competitors.
Livia Allison (Steele Canyon, El Cajon) ran 24.99 in the 200 meters at the UC Classic on April 4, improving from 26.21 set in March 2026. The freshman ranks 143rd in California among 27,956 athletes and fifth among 4,979 freshmen statewide. Allison won the event among 47 runners.
