This year at the Asics Sundevil Cross Country Invitational, several runners across San Diego and the Southern Section descended on Morley Field to test themselves in one of the most famous courses in the country. For many, Saturday was a test on a challenging course different from fast, flat courses, and it served as a trial for those who will return for the CIF San Diego Section Championships in November.  

Several runners passed their test with flying colors, demonstrating significant improvements throughout the entire meet. Elvira Corona from Castle Park was 6 minutes and 6 seconds faster than last year, making her the most improved girl from the weekend. The sophomore must have celebrated after breaking the 30-minute barrier for the first time with a new personal record of 28:30.
