We'll conduct a poll every week highlighting some of California's best cross country performances.
*Previous winners will be listed on each Performer of the Week poll, and the audience will vote on the Performer of the XC regular season on the week of December 15th. All POW winners of the 2025 XC season will not be eligible to be nominated again after being selected.
CANDIDATES
Jaxon Northcutt Mt. Carmel): At the Bronco Roundup, Jaxon Northcutt led the varsity boys to a team championship on the 2-mile course in an impressive time of 9:28.00. Northcutt was one of the seven boys who broke 10 minutes on the course in San Diego.
Albert Jacinto (Chaffey): The junior was the only boy to go under 10 minutes on the 2-mile course at the Mountie Xpress Invitational to run an impressive 9:46. Jacinto is following the footsteps of his recent graduate teammate, Daniel Reza, who made the CIF State meet in the 1600m last track season. This weekend's surprise may establish him as not only a Southern Section threat but a threat in the entire state of California.
Mario Montoya (Redondo Union): The Redondo Cross Country Relays are becoming increasingly more popular and bringing high-level competition across Southern California. In this edition, the Redondo boys dominated the competition, anchored by Mario Montoya, who ran an 8:18.42 split. Redondo won the Boys 5x3000m relay in 42:42.17 to defend their home turf.
Luke Lopez (Eleanor Roosevelt High School): At the end of last week, ERHS was ranked as eighth in the CIF SS Preseason polls for Division 1, and they went on to demonstrate their excellence at the Roosey Relays. Luke Lopez led Roosevelt to win the 5x2400m relay around the Eleanor Roosevelt High School campus in 37:29.51. His split of 6:57.79 was the fastest on the relay and fastest of the meet by over fifteen seconds.
Aidan Antonio (Woodbridge): Woodbridge High School dominated Northwood, Sage Hill, and Segerstrom in a quad dual meet led by Aidan Antonio's 15:02.00 three-mile. After a phenomenal sophomore season where he ran 4:06 in the 1600m, Antonio is proving early on that he will continue to be a threat along with his talented squad.
