WATCH: Niya Clayton Brings The 4x100 Home To Oaks Christian

FRESNO -- The Oaks Christian girls weren't considered the heavy favorites heading into  4x100 girls final on Saturday at the CIF State Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

But things changed quickly once Niya Clayton got the final hand-off.

The 2023 CIF champion in the 100m did not let the team's lead dissipate, as she pulled Oaks Christian home in a winning time of 45.67 seconds.

The result was an incredible start to the CIF Championships, as Oaks Christian -- which finished fifth in the 4x100 in 2023 -- knocked off Calabasas and Long Beach Poly, which were the state's fastest programs entering the day.

Poly finished second in 45.78 seconds, while Calabasas was fourth in 46.08.

Clayton later finished sixth in the 100m with a time of 11.57 seconds.
