Ily Barclay
Steele Canyon (SD) / Sprints
Ily swept the short sprints at the San Diego Section Division 1 Finals. Her winning time in the 100-meter dash of 12.05 (2.0) ranks CA No. 6 in the class for all-conditions marks and No. 5 wind legal. Her 200m best of 24.79 (3.6) was the top time at the Division Prelims (CA No. 5 in the class), and her D-1 winning time of 25.06 was her second-fastest performance of the season. She won 10 of 12 races at the 100-meter distance and five of seven at the 200m distance.
Brooke Blue
Wilson-Long Beach (SS) Sprints
Brooke had a significant 400-meter PR drop for a 56.02 clocking at Southern Section Division 1 Prelims. That time ranks CA No. 3 in the class. She also ran on the Bruins 4x400m relay team that won Southern Section D-1 title and placed second at both SS Masters and CIF-State.
Chiara Dailey
La Jolla (SD) Distances
Chiara is an elite 1600-800 runner who ranks among the nation's best in the Class of '26 as well as one CA's best regardless of class. She concluded her breakout freshman year with a U.S. No. 1 time in the class for the mile of 4:44.47 with a U.S. No. 1 time in the class 1600m split of 4:42.43. (That mile time is the fastest ever by a San Diego Section girl.) Her 800m PR of 2:09.23 from Nike Outdoor Nationals ranks U.S. No. 4 in the class. She won the 1600m and 800m at the San Diego Section Division 3 Finals, running a meet-best 4:42.69 for 1600m and a then-PR 2:12.93 for 800m. She ran 4:49.73 for 1600m at State Prelims, the second-fastest time of the day, and followed that with a 4:52.82 in the State final.
Amaya DeFlorimonte
Bishop O'Dowd (NC) Sprints/Jumps
Amaya is the CA class leader in the triple jump with a 37-3 (1.0) best to win the title at the North Coast Section Meet of the Champions. The versatile performer went to State in the triple jump as well as the 400m where she ran her lifetime best of 57.66 in prelims. She had placed third at NCS MOC in 58.19. She also tried her hand in the long jump, short sprints, and 300m hurdles but found her most consistent success in the triple jump and 400m dash.
Jada Faison
Rosary Academy (SS) Hurdles/Jumps
Jada led the class in both hurdles, running 14.58 (2.5) to win the Trinity League title in the 100m hurdles and 44.22 for second place at CIF-SS D-4 Finals (U.S. No. 17 in the class). She also won the league title in the 300mH in 44.80, and the league long jump title (18-9.75/nwi). That mark ranks U.S. No. 13 in the class for all-conditions marks. Jada reached SS Masters in the long jump and D-4 finals in both hurdles.
Christina is one of the nation's elite sprinter/jumpers nationally in the Class of '26. She competed in three events at the State Meet, earning two medals. She ran a leg on the Carson 4x100m relay team that won the LA City Section title and went on to run 45.61 to win the title at the State Meet. She placed second in the LAC Finals, and placed seventh at the State Final, running an 11.83 (1.6) PR that ranks U.S. No. 11 in the class (wind-legal). in the 100m dash
Maddy Harmonson
Clovis West (CS) Throws
Maddy is the top combo thrower in the class, with bests of 127-0 in the discus throw (CA No. 1 in the class) and 36-11.50 in the shot put. She placed fourth in Central Section D-1 in the shopt put and fifth in the discus throw to qualify for CS Masters in both.
Cameron Macias
Clovis West (CS) Distances
She ranks third in the class in CA for combined 1600m-800m times behind only Chiara Dailey and Jaelyn Williams with PRs of 4:55.52 in the 1600m, for fourth at TRAC Championships, and 2:15.18 in the 800m from State Prelims. She also placed fourth in the 1600m at both Central Section D-1 (4:55.97) and CS Masters (4:59.12). She won the 800m at CS Masters (2:15.38) and then bettered that PR at State Pres.
Natalie McCarty
Newport Harbor (SS) Hurdles/Jumps
This versatile athlete posted marks (and PRs!) in six events during the 2023 outdoor season, including a class-best 5-6 in the high jump and a CA No. 2 time of 44.53 in the 300m hurdles. She also dropped PRs of 34-4 in the triple jump, 2:25.20 for 800m, 59.48 for 400m and 26.79 for 200m. Her high jump mark ranks tied for 17th nationally in the class, and her 300mH time ranks 21st.
Ellie McCuskey-Hay
St. Ignatius (NC) Sprints/Jumps
Ellie (pictured above) concluded a spectacular freshman season with four first-place medals at the Central Coast Section Championships, and two at the State Meet. There she placed second in the 100 meters, running an 11.52 (1.6) PR, and sixth in the long jump with a 19-7.25 (1.7) PR. At the CCS Finals, whe won the long jump (18-9.50), 200-meter dash (24.76), 100m dash (11.92), and anchored the winning 4x100m relay team (48.18). She ran at State in all four events, making the final in two of them. Her 100m PR from State ranks U.S. No. 1 in the class (CA No. 4 overall, No 3 wind-legal), and her long jump PR ranks U.S. No. 2 in the class for wind-legal marks (U.S. No. 4 all-conditions; CA No. 6 overall all-conditions).
Leena Powell
Culver City (SS) 400m
Leena was a key piece of the Culver City team that placed second at the CIF-State Meet. Her 400m PR of 55.69 at Southern Section Masters ranks CA No. 2 in the class. It earned her a trip to compete individually at State. Leena ran a 55.46 first-leg split on the 4x400m relay team that won the State title in 3:41.08 (U.S. No. 6). That team also won at Southern Section Masters (3:41.40).
Rayah Rodriguez
Oaks Christian (SS) Sprints
Rayah is among the nation's elite long sprinters in the Class of '26. She qualified for the State Meet in both the 200m and 400m and earned an eighth-place medal in the 400. Her 200m PR of 24.03 from Southern Section Masters ranks CA No. 9 overall and U.S. No. 9 in the class. Her wind-legal 200m best of 24.13 (2.0) for second place at the SS Division 4 Finals, ranks U.S. No. 7 in the class. Her 400m PR of 54.41 to win the SS D-4 title ranks CA No. 6 overall and U.S No. 8 in the class. She also ran on the Oaks Christian 4x100m relay team that placed fifth at State.
Marley Scoggins
Golden Valley (SS) Sprints
Marley is one of the stop short sprinters in the class, running season-bests of 11.89 to win the 100m and 24.31 for third place in the 200m at Southern Section Division 2 Finals. She ran 11.93 (3.5) at SS Masters to earn a trip to the State Meet. Since the end of the CiF season, she has lowered her PRs to 11.85 (2.7) and 24.27 (1.1).
Maya Woolforde
JSerra (SS), 400m
Maya won the Southern Section Division 3 title in the 400-meter dash, running 56.33. She ran her PR of 56.16 in the season-opening meet and went under 57 seconds four other times, including 56.46 at Arcadia.
