This week's Tasty Race to watch is a highly entertaining battle between Sonora (SJ) senior Adin Dibble and St. Mary's (NC) junior Mateo Malko-Allen in the invitational 3200-meter race from the Sacramento Meet of Champions held at American River College.
Dibble took the lead from the gun but Malko-Allen kept him within reach from the start and pulled even early on. The Berkeley-school junior, who showed off his impressive middle-distance talents on big stages at the Dublin Distance Fiesta and at Arcadia, put his long-range abilities on display here as he took the lead and tried to leave Dibble and the others behind.
But the veteran from Sonora wasn't about to let that happen, pulling even with Malko-Allen, and the two jockeyed for supremacy the rest of the way leading to a fast last lap and a fantastic finish. Tom Lingel is on the call.
Red Cap Timing provided lap splits of a 57.6 final 400m for Dibble, and 58.9 for Malko-Allen.
