MILESPLITCA TASTY RACE OF THE WEEK
* * *
It was the last individual race of the meet and it did not disappoint. Wake Forest-bound Stockton St. Mary's (SJ) senior Daniel Winter had control of the boys 3200-meter fast -- aka "Sombrero" -- heat at Saturday's Dublin Distance Fiesta.
But, seemingly out of nowhere, Yale-bound Jesuit (SJ) senior Braden King put on a furious final 400 meters to meet Winter at the line.
Unofficially, King ran the eighth and final lap in 58 seconds to earn the win and coveted DDF fast-heat champion's sombrero.
That's the awesome and indefatigable Scott Abbott on the call.
