San Diego HS senior Charlize James blazed to a 60-meter hurdles PR of 8.99 at the Vista Murrieta Winter Championships Qualifier meet held Jan. 22. That is the state's fastest mark heading into Saturday's CA Winter Championships finale at Arcadia HS.
James' previous best in the MileSplit database was 9.20 from last winter.
As a junior, in an abbreviated rescheduled spring season, she finished as the 100-meter hurdles champion at both the CA State Champs (14.10 PR) and San Diego Section Open (14.14w), and the 300-meter hurdles champion (43.75 PR) at the San Diego Section Division 1 Final.
James, a San Diego State recruit, is the No. 2 returner in CA in the 100mH and the No. 4 returner in the state in the 300mH event.
