Samantha McDonnell, a senior at Newbury Park (SS) and recent Alabama commit, rolled to the title at the 42nd Clovis Invitational, out-sprinting freshman superstar Sadie Engelhardt of Ventura (SS) to the line, crossing in 17:02.1 over the 5K course at Woodward Park.
In recognition of her accomplishment, McDonnell was voted as CA's Girls Cross Country Performer of the Week for the week ending Oct. 9, receiving 51.25 percent of the vote in a statewide poll. Engelhardt was second in the voting with 25.62 percent.
