W2W4: North Texas Jumps Showcase

Some of the best vaulters and jumpers in Texas along with several top national talent will compete this weekend at the North Texas Jumps Showcase.

Check out the girls and boys long and triple jump athletes we think you will want to keep an eye on this weekend.

Boys Long/Triple Jump

Solomon Washington (Round Rock Stony Point)  -  Washington was enjoying a superb 2020 season before the shutdown. The University of Texas commit, jumped 23 feet in the long jump and 48-6.75 in the triple jump during the indoor season. During the outdoor season, he turned things up a notch by leaping further and running faster. He jumped a 24-0 PR in the long jump with three jumps over 23--5 and he he added a 50-8.5 in the triple jump; Washington also went 10.92 and 22.15 in the sprints.

Jonny Brackins (Lee's Summit, MO) - The Missouri star also had a big 2020 season. During indoors, he had two jumps over 24-12.5 including a 24-6.5 PR. The University of Southern California (USC) commit added 48-2.75 triple jump PR during the indoor season last year. Unfortunately, Brackins didn't get an outdoor season; his only action came July 3-4. He could pick up where he left off last indoor season this weekend.

Michael Herzog (Thorndale) - Herzog didn't have an indoor season and didn't get much in before the shutdown. When things opened up during the summer, the Duke commit found his jumping rhythm. Herzog had four jumps over 23 feet including a 23-8.25 PR and five jumps 47-4.75 and a 48-8PR. Now that he is getting a chance to jump indoors without the elements, he is one to watchout for.

Adam Axelrod (Flower Mound) - Axelrod had a great jump last year at the Texas A&M High School Indoor Classic, in fact, it was the jump of his life when he went 23-4.25.

Girls Long Jump

Caelyn Harris (Upland, CA) - Harris is the Mrs.-do-it-all kind of track athlete; her skills includes the long jump where she won a California state title. Last year, she finished the indoor season as the US No. 3 long jumper with her 20-4.5. With the California track season not slated to start for a while, Harris should be coming to Texas with the mind of hitting a big jump.

Jade McDonald (Long Beach Poly) - McDonald is another all-around track and field athlete. She dominates in the hurdles and jumps. Last year didn't really get going for her in the jumps as she only got one jump in each (17-11 and 39-2.25) However, coming down to Texas means she will be all about business to get back on track. The Iowa commit jumped 19-9.75 and 40-2.25 PRs as a sophomore.

De'Anna Robinson (Euless Trinity)  - Last year, Robinson had a good indoor season PRing with her 19-1.25 long jump and a 37-3 triple jump. The University of Iowa signee wasn't able to get much going outdoors because of the shut down, but this could be her chance to restart her high school jumping career.

Brianna Brand (Kennedale) - The Houston Baptist commit had a strong 2020 indoor season. She jumped 18-0.25 and 36-8.25 before outdoors where she went 36-0.25 and 19-2.

Rieko Wilford (Curtiss, NC) -  North Carolina jump star Wilford is a triple jump specialist. Last year, she 40-2.25 indoors and then 38-5.5 during the summer. She could easily pop another 40 foot jump this indoor season.

Jaiah Hopf (Wisconsin Lutheran) - Wisconsin junio Hopf could be one of the top dual jumpers this season. Last year, she didn't get her season started until July, but she had some very good jumps nevertheless and went undefeated. With jumps of 19-0.25 and 39-10, she will be a key competitor this weekend.
