Now fully into November, the final month of the CIF competition schedule in 2019, our review of boys and girls 3-mile and 5K weekly leaders will continue through post-CIF competition held last December.
A year go this week, ranking of boys on 5,000-meter courses was limited to just three CIF section meets: Central, Oakland and San Francisco. But unlike the girls, 2020s dominated the top of the 822 boys ranked.
Isaiah Galindo (Clovis North), Damian Gavilan (Paso Robles), Ethan Jones (Bakersfield Liberty), Adham Maher (Stockdale) and Abel Teffra (Central) had the five fastest times at the Central Section meet on the State Meet course at Woodward Park in Fresno. All five were seniors, as were 19 of the top 30 boys on 5K courses a year ago this week.
