This article highlights the results of first-round dual as part of the MileSplitCA March Madness Virtual Meet Tournament. Virtual meets are scored based solely on 2020 results using the standard dual meet scoring points format of 5-3-1 for individuals and 5-0 for relays. Athletes are scored in no more than four events. No. 11 CENTRAL (CS) vs. No. 22 BISHOP UNION (CS)
The depth of results data already on the books before the outdoor season was interrupted was plenty for Fresno Central in its first-round girls virtual dual track meet matchup with Bishop Union despite a triple win for senior distance star Rachel Fitt.
Fitt cruised to wins in the 400m, 800m and 1600m and junior Sierra Burror had the only scored time in the 3200m and placed second in the 1600m as Bishop Union claimed 18 of 23 points in the distances. That's where the highlights end for BUHS.
Senior Simone Johnson, one of the state's elite triple jumpers, had the top mark in her specialty and added three more points with a runner-up slotting in the 100m, won by junior Sariyah Copeland, who also won had the fastest time in the 200m.
Also for the Grizzlies, Monea Jennings won the 100m hurdles and placed third in the 300s, Bella Gragnani won the 300m hurdles and placed second in the 100s, and freshman Kendra Batcher, sophomore Tiffany Uribe and junior Taylor Lloyd accounted for all 18 points in the throws.
