Girls Virtual Round 1: Liberty vs. West Hills

Throw out the seeding once the runners take the line. We're only three duals into out tournament and already we have a major upset. Behind dominant performances in the sprints and distances, West Hills pulled the shocker on one of the top elite girls teams from the Central Section, beating Bakersfield Liberty, 83-52.

West Hills scored 53 points alone in the sprints and distances and that alone was enough to advance to a second-round matchup with the Central (CS)-Bishop Union (CS) winner.

Junior Berea Crescitelli scored eight points in the sprints and sophomore Savanna Gillespie posted 10 in the distances with wins in the 800 and 1600 to lead West Hills to this virtual meet victory. 

In a battle between two of the elite throwers in the 2021 class, Brandy Atuatasi of West Hills won the shot put and placed second in the discus throw while Faith Bender of Liberty won the discus and placed second in the shot. 

Liberty junior hurdler Reese Renz was a runaway winner in both the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles for Liberty.
